(The sordid tale of two young women who participate in a ghastly revolution in California during the 21st Century, as told by witnesses.)</li> <li>I Rode With Bonnie and Clyde Unpublished play, unfinished. (Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow disappeared between July and November of 1933. Where did they go? Suppose they hid out with a distant cousin, arguing about Death and God while Bonnie worked on her poetry and Clyde cleaned his guns. Just suppose.)</li> <li>The Memoirs of a Hollywood Asshole Unpublished mss., unfinished. (You never liked the police, especially when they kicked in your door and arrested your girl for beating you up. A collection of short stories about a bunch of dimwits getting too drunk and ending up in bed with each other, not based on my personal experience.)</li> <li><a href="documents/homeless.html">Supporting the Homeless</a>. Unpublished mss., ©2002. (The Art Scene in Los Angeles declares war against the System. Unfortunately, the System is just a bunch of crackheads sleeping in the streets outside their Downtown lofts. A Bildungsroman that even a critical theorist at Cal-Arts can love.) Click on the title to read the first chapter.</li> <li>Tales of Love, Madness, Death and Surreptitious Cigarettes from the Arizonans. Unpublished mss., unfinished. (AKA The Arizonans. It was a dark and stormy night. Cotton farmer Elisha Knight tells the story of his family, from their arrival in Phoenix in 1900, through wars and tragedy with tequila-laced comic relief, up until the opening of the Aqueduct in 1993.)</li> <li>The Tragic Fall of Barrington Hall. Unpublished mss., unfinished. (Take two-hundred college students at the University of California, Berkeley. Teach them radical politics and enticing sexual positions. Season liberally with every type of drug available to man. Lock them in a dirty, roach-infested apartment building from the turn of the century. Sit back and enjoy.) This building was closed in 1990; <a href="https://ejinjue.org/green-book/responses/fall-of-barrington-hall/">my rebuttal</a> to a management attack on our stewardship of the largest cooperative student housing in the United States should be educational.</li> </ul> <h3 id="other"><a name="other">The Other Truth</a></h3> I’ve devoted my other career to my fellow writers as a librarian, formerly in the <a href="http://www.lapl.org/branches/central-library/departments/literature-fiction">Literature and Fiction Department</a> of the <a href="http://www.lapl.org/">Los Angeles Public Library</a>. We created two excellent annotated bibliographies on-line, the <a href="http://www.lapl.org/collections-resources/lapl-indexes/california-fiction-index">California Fiction Database</a> and the <a href="http://www.lapl.org/collections-resources/lapl-indexes/series-sequels">Series and Sequels Database</a>. Or take a thrill ride with Mark London Williams’ <a href="http://marklondonwilliams.com/db.html">Danger Boy</a>. David Del Valle will be happy to camp it up at <a href="http://www.filmsinreview.com/category/columns/camp-david/">Camp David</a>, and <a href="http://www.robroberge.com/">Rob Roberge</a> will gladly beat him black and blue for doing it. Among my other favorite writers is the late, great <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=IMZp2xFviZo&offerid=99238.122856000&type=2&subid=0&tmpid=939&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.alibris.com/booksearch%253Fqsort%253Dp%2526author%253Dphilip%2520dick">Philip Kindred Dick</a>.<a href="http://www.philipkdickfans.com/"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="images/dick.jpg" width="145" height="165" hspace="10" vspace="10" align="right" alt="Philip K. Dick!" /></a> Click on the picture to transport yourself to a dimension created for him by another loving fan. I am also much enamoured of the late <a href="http://www.ballardian.com/">J.G. Ballard</a>.
